The Petal Patisserie

Our story

Meet Sonya

Sonya, the baker behind The Petal Patisserie, smiling in her kitchen

Hi there! I’m Sonya, the baker and creator behind The Petal Patisserie. 🌸

I’ve loved baking for as long as I can remember. Some of my favorite childhood memories were made around the table, enjoying good food with the people I love. Baking and cooking have always been deeply woven into my family and culture, and sharing food with others has always felt like one of the most natural ways to show love.

For the past seven years, I’ve worked as a software engineer. I was originally drawn to engineering because I loved creating, taking an idea and using my own skills to build something that didn’t exist before. But as the industry began to change, particularly with the rapid growth of AI, I found myself increasingly removed from the kind of creative work that had once brought me so much fulfillment. I began to wonder what creating might look like for me outside of a computer screen.

At the same time, there was another love that had followed me throughout my life: flowers. I love gardening and growing my own flowers, and at some point, I even considered becoming a florist.

I never could have imagined that these seemingly separate parts of my life would one day come together. The idea for The Petal Patisserie came unexpectedly, and I can only thank God for the way He has guided me toward something I never would have thought to pursue on my own. Two things I had loved for most of my life, flowers and baking, found their way together.

And so, The Petal Patisserie began.

Every floral cupcake I make is piped entirely by hand, petal by petal. I want them to be beautiful enough to resemble a real bouquet, while never forgetting that they are meant to be eaten and enjoyed. To me, the flavor matters every bit as much as the flowers.

There is a particular joy in handing someone a box I have made for them and seeing their reaction for the first time. It allows me to create with my hands, to share food with others, and to bring a little beauty into the ordinary moments of life.

I’m deeply grateful to God for bringing me somewhere I never expected to be, and for all of you who allow me to share this work with you. The Petal Patisserie is still at the beginning of its story, and I look forward to seeing where it goes. I’m so happy you’re here. 🌷

A Special Thank You 💕

I also want to give a special thank you to my wonderful husband (who is also an engineer 😉), who spent countless hours and many late nights building this website and helping me bring The Petal Patisserie to life. From getting the business off the ground to turning my ideas for this website into a reality, I truly couldn’t have done it without him.

And if you like what you see and need a little help bringing your own website to life, you can reach him at reesebearden.hh@gmail.com 😊
